Reference Series Headphones

The Reference Series is available in both open-back and closed-back configurations, each tuned for its intended use. The open-back model provides a wide, speaker-like soundstage ideal for critical listening and mixing, while the closed-back variant offers superior isolation for tracking and on-the-go enjoyment.

At the core of every Reference Series headphone sits a 100mm planar magnetic driver. Unlike conventional dynamic drivers, our planar diaphragm moves uniformly across its entire surface, eliminating breakup modes and delivering distortion levels well below the threshold of audibility. The result is bass that reaches deep without bloat and treble that extends effortlessly without harshness.

Comfort is non-negotiable for long sessions. We use slow-rebound memory foam earpads wrapped in protein leather that conforms to the unique shape of your head. The headband distributes weight evenly, and the clamping force is calibrated to stay secure without causing fatigue. Detachable cables with locking connectors let you swap between a portable 3.5mm cable and a full-size 6.35mm studio lead in seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Open-back headphones provide a wider, more natural soundstage and are ideal for mixing, mastering, and home listening where external noise is not a concern. Closed-back headphones offer isolation from ambient sound and prevent sound leakage, making them better for tracking in the studio, commuting, or working in shared spaces.
With a sensitivity of 104dB and an impedance of 32 ohms, the Reference Series is efficient enough to be driven by most portable devices and laptops. However, a dedicated headphone amplifier will unlock their full dynamic range and deliver tighter bass control. We recommend pairing them with an amplifier capable of at least 100mW into 32 ohms for the best experience.
The earpads attach via a magnetic mounting ring. To remove them, gently pull the pad away from the cup starting at the bottom edge. Align the replacement pad with the magnets and press into place until it clicks. Replacement pads are available in protein leather, velour, and hybrid options through our online store.
Each Reference Series headphone ships with a 1.2m cable terminated in 3.5mm, a 3m cable terminated in 6.35mm, a 3.5mm-to-6.35mm adapter, a hard-shell carrying case, a microfibre cleaning cloth, and a certificate of authenticity with individual serial number and frequency response measurement.
