ProStereo tube amplifier with glowing EL34 valves on a walnut shelf

Valve & Solid-State Amplifiers

ProStereo amplifiers come in two distinct topologies, each with its own character. Our valve amplifiers use carefully matched pairs of EL34 or KT88 output tubes, hand-biased during assembly to deliver the rich harmonic saturation and three-dimensional soundstage that only tubes can provide.

For listeners who prefer absolute transparency and effortless power, our solid-state class AB designs employ high-current output stages with generous heatsinking. These amplifiers double their power into halved impedance loads, ensuring they remain composed even when driving demanding loudspeakers at high levels.

Both lines share our commitment to premium components. Oversized toroidal transformers provide a stiff, low-noise power supply. Signal paths are kept as short as possible, and all critical connections use gold-plated contacts. The chassis is machined from solid aluminium with vibration-damping feet to isolate sensitive circuitry from mechanical interference.

Key Features

EL34 & KT88 Valve Options

Choose between the lush midrange warmth of EL34 tubes or the extended power and tighter bass of KT88s. Both are hand-matched and individually biased for optimal performance.

Class AB Solid-State Design

High-current bipolar output transistors in a class AB configuration deliver 150 watts per channel with vanishingly low distortion across the full audio bandwidth.

Toroidal Power Transformers

Custom-wound toroidal transformers minimize electromagnetic interference and provide a robust, low-impedance power supply for dynamic, unrestricted performance.

Multiple Input Options

RCA, balanced XLR, and a dedicated phono stage with adjustable gain accommodate turntables, CD transports, streamers, and professional sources.

Machined Aluminium Chassis

CNC-machined from a single billet of aluminium, the chassis provides electromagnetic shielding, efficient heat dissipation, and a refined aesthetic that looks as good as it sounds.

Soft-Start Circuit Protection

An intelligent soft-start circuit gradually brings the power supply to full voltage, protecting tubes and capacitors from inrush current and extending component life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tube amplifiers use vacuum valves in their output stage and are prized for their warm harmonic character, natural compression, and spacious soundstage. Solid-state amplifiers use transistors and typically offer higher power output, tighter bass control, and lower measured distortion. Both can sound exceptional — the choice often comes down to personal taste and the type of speakers you plan to drive.
Under normal use, our output tubes typically last between 3,000 and 5,000 hours. Preamp tubes can last significantly longer, often exceeding 10,000 hours. We recommend having the bias checked annually. Replacement tube sets are available through our store, and each set is factory-matched for consistent performance.
Consider your speaker sensitivity and impedance. High-sensitivity speakers (above 90dB) pair well with our 50W valve amplifiers, while lower-sensitivity or power-hungry designs benefit from the 150W solid-state model. Impedance matching matters most for tube amps — use the correct output tap (4 or 8 ohms) for your speakers. Our team is happy to advise on the best pairing for your setup.
Yes. The built-in phono stage supports both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. A rear-panel switch selects between MM and MC gain settings, and internal DIP switches allow you to adjust loading impedance to match your specific cartridge for optimal tonal balance and tracking.
